How to remember your dad on Father's day

At first I had to wonder, what kind of person doesn't remember their own dad on father's day? One-step further, what sort of person doesn't remember their father every single day? He shot the big, bad boogieman. He cooks the best chili in the world. He knew everything, and he still does, from how to make goats milk taste like chocolate without adding chocolate syrup, to where you really were on Saturday night in the 9th grade.

Then I finally understood what that meant, How to remember your Dad on Father's Day. Not remember him, who could forget all the amazing things our fathers' do and have done? I remembered to remember has more than one definition and not all of them involve forgetting anything. Remembering can also mean to bear a person in mind and/or to mention that person to others. I think the point here is to put all of those wonderful things in past tense. How do we remember the father's who have left this life? How do we honor them on their special day even when they have passed on?

It is a hard thing to lose a father. It is not a hard thing to honor that father on Father's Day.

The best way to honor a father who has passed over on Father's Day is to do all the things they loved to do the most in life and enjoy those things. It is okay to go visit a grave or favorite place and pay your respects, but do not dwell on the loss, enjoy the memory. Share those memories with others.

Happiness is the greatest gift of all, and we all live on in the memories and love of those who surrounded us in life. You are his legacy. You are his living breathing testament to the greatness that was a Father, a boogieman slayer, a meal maker, a tear wiper and a smile igniter. You can never forget, do not let anyone else either, especially not on Father's Day of all days.

You could even take this Father's day one step further and honor the men who made your ancestral line great. Spend part of Father's day researching your roots, and remember they are all your fathers in a way. You would not be who you are if it was not for where you came from.

If your father has passed on you may not be able to cook him breakfast, buy him a tie, or make him a "World's Best Dad" mug, but you can remember him all this Father's Day all the same. To remember is the best way to remember your Father on Father's day.
