I am looking forward to joining World Changers this summer. Just as I have looked forward to other missions I have volunteered for. The reason I volunteer is because of God. Doing missions is another way of showing your love for God. As a missionary, you are basically part of a group that goes and carries out evangelism.
You could say that we are all meant for some mission in our life, but this is not what being a missionary means. Being a Missionary is mostly thought of as having a religious mission. In that sense, that means people without a religion, could not be a missionary. To be a missionary, you need to ask yourself a couple questions. The first question is do you love God, most people have already answered yes to this question before I wrote it. But do you really love God, and want to work and give your whole life to him. The second question is do you have a solid relationship with God, meaning do you pray, worship, and glorify God. Do you glorify God just to try to get into heaven, or do you truly do it for God. Are you ready to take the next step in your relationship with God?
When you take the next step with in your relationship with God, you show love and belief in God. When I first started my relationship with God, I started praying. Praying is most likely you first step to take, so you can ask for forgiveness of your sins. When you pray, You must really mean it, and want to talk to God. If you do mean it, then God will listen to your prayers. The second step I took was going to church, and actually listening this time. When I started listening in church, God worked through the pastor to open my eyes to things I never even thought about before. Every Sunday I go to church, and every time I learn something new. I learn facts from the bible, and I also learn how I can become closer to God. My third step was probably one of my easiest and hardest steps. The next step I took was to let my friends know I was Christian. The hard part was telling people because I was worried what people would think of me. But when your with God it does not matter what people think about you. The easy part was being able to now tell people about my relationship with God and how they can have one too. And then comes the missionary step, who should do missions, I do it for God. At this point in my relationship with God is where I started to go on missions, and tell people about the Glory of God. Its fun to tell people about the glory of God, and that helps to move in your relationship with God also.
Anyone can become a missionary, but are you doing it for God, or just to see if you get into heaven.
Remember:
"But blessed is the man who trusts in the lord, whose confidence is in him.
-Jeremiah 17:7
"Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sigt of God and man."
-Proverbs 3:3-4
So In order to be a missionary, you must be doing it for God. You also must have a strong relationship with God to be a missionary. Remember to read the bible, and be able to answer a question if someone asks. Love God and Continue to worship him your whole Life.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.'"
-Proverbs 3: 5-6
