A guide to great salads for cookouts

I make this salad every time we have a family cookout. Because this meaty club salad is packed with so many different ingredients, not to mention a lot of protein, my family and our guests always rave about it.

You can even eat a plate of it alone as your meal if you like. It's tasty and filling. Plus, it's incredibly easy to make. So much so that you can easily make this for a cookout, or any other social gathering. Or you can just prepare it ahead of time for a nice lunch or to serve as an extra at family dinner.

Easy Tasy Meaty Club Salad

Ingredients needed:

5 hard boiled eggs

1/4 pound of deli shaved ham

1/4 pound of deli shaved chicken breast

1/4 pound of lean deli turkey breast

1/4 pound of lean deli roast beef

About 1 and 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese

1 head of Romaine lettuce (or any dark green lettuce, just don't use iceberg lettuce..it won't taste that great with iceburg lettuce).

1/2 cup of raisins (adds a nice slight sweet taste to salad).

5 slices of crisp bacon crumbled (you can also use jarred bacon bits, but the fresh bacon tastes better, I just use the already cooked bacon and cook it crisp in microwave for 2 minutes to save time).

1 large diced fresh tomato

1 tablespoon of olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste.

Cheese and garlic flavored croutons (or any flavor you like, just make sure the croutons are flavored to add to taste)

Directions:

Thoroughly rinse and clean lettuce, dry lettuce, and then tear into bite size pieces and add to large salad bowl.

Slice boiled eggs and add to lettuce.

Tear all deli meats into small pieces and add to salad.

Add other ingredients, with the exception of the croutons, to the salad (and add any extra suitable ingredients you like as well)..

Toss thoroughly.

Serve with your favorite fat-free dressing

Sprinkle croutons on each single serving before handing out plates of salad. That's is only because the croutons, if stored in any leftover salad, will become wilted and soft, rather than remaining crisp and tasty.
