The prospect of starting to write and honing your craft can definitely be daunting, as many authors have had to spend a lot time working at becoming writers before being published. This includes writers like Stephen King. So, perhaps one of the hardest things for a new writer to accept is the fact that it's going to take a lot of work. This is especially so if their grammar isn't too good.
So, the key thing to remember is that it takes time to become a good writer and during that time, a lot of it will be spent learning about grammar, style and how to put a story together. But everything that I just mentioned isn't key for a new writer to know. Instead, it's key for a new writer to know that they should just write and not get bogged down in all of the terms and rules that are thrown around on the web and in how to write books. There are actually very few rules that need to be followed in writing and so a lot of it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. The bottom line is that nobody should be afraid to experiment and deviate from the norm. Sometimes experimentation works and sometimes it doesn't. Even if it doesn't, it helps to make us better writers. It is however essential for everyone who wants to be a writer to read and read a lot. Writers should read a lot of different books in various genres and also varying styles, alongside both good and bad books.
Aside from the advice mentioned above, there is something that new writers should be aware of with regards to critiques. Firstly, writers do need to receive critiques because they are critical to helping us improve our writing, but they are most important for new writers who may not have the skill to judge their own work. At the same time, it's important to realise that at first, experienced writers will most likely pick up on a lot of potential mistakes made in a new writer's writing. But it's important to not
