Summer Cocktails: Summer Beer

Nothing says summer like sitting out on the deck in the lazy heat of the afternoon with a pair of sunglasses, a fancy frosted glass and an ice cold cocktail. It is an experience. The experience could relax you so much, you might even be persuaded to slip in an tiny umbrella, sip from a bendy straw, or chew on a cherry or two. That's what summer can do to a person. Or maybe not. Maybe you're a cold beer at a reasonable price straight from the bottle so cold it makes you go Ahhhhhhhh type of person. That experience can't be dismissed either.

My absolute favourite summer cocktail combines the best of both worlds. Beer world and fancy drink world. The best of both experiences. It has the extremely simple moniker of 'Summer Beer.'

Summer beer is a must in the summer. It sings of summer, it's fun to drink and if you're not careful could put you in a coma for the rest of the afternoon. But of course, you're always careful when mixing a summer cocktail.

Here is the non coma recipe for Summer Beer.

List of Ingredients:

4 cans of cold beer

1 can of frozen lemonade concentrate. Thawed.

1/2 can (the frozen lemonade can) of vodka

That's it, that's all. Three ingredients. Simple recipe, simple enjoyment. All you need is a deck, some sunglasses and a frosted glass. Summer will follow you wherever you go. I'm very much looking forward to the first batch this year.

True story: when I was first told the recipe for Summer Beer, the individual passing on the ingredients switched the amount of frozen lemonade and vodka. "Are you sure?' I asked, " A full can of vodka and a half can of lemonade?' She was quite sure. 'A full can of vodka?' She was adamant. Let's just say that a full can of vodka is the quickest route to an afternoon coma this side of the speed of light...
