Would a humorous approach to life make a difference?

Let's find the humor. A snotty beauty queen struts around bragging about her latest triumph over the ugly girls. No one listening to her arrogance bothers to tell her, the skirt she is wearing has been ever so neatly tucked into the back of her girdle. The discovery of her girdle eating her skirt is a moment that can change her life.

The beauty queen can get angry and alienate everyone within earshot of her tantrum. Leaving her alone and humiliated, never to show her face again at a pageant. Or she can choose to see the humor in the incident and laugh along with the ugly girls because you know they are laughing! In the process she will gain a friend or two. Maybe earn a little respect for being able to laugh at such a tragedy. More importantly she won't carry the humiliation with her the rest of her life. There's something to be said about laughing it off. The ugly girls won't be so inclined (I said so inclined) to talk behind the beauty queen's back. And when they do, and you know they will, it won't be so malicious.

A full-fledged cackle will transform your attitude. Make an angry person laugh, even a smirk will do, and the tension in the air lessons dramatically. It's magical how humor can change an outcome, I don't care who you are.

Have you ever wondered if Hitler had a sense of humor? My guess would be, let me think no. His sense of humor was an evil one. Degrading jokes about his generals made him spill an evil laugh. Evidently, it made him feel better about himself. I wonder if someone could've made him laugh until he almost peed, would our history books tell a different tale. Evil intent humor is not where it's at obviously.

Realize this to be happy is a choice. To see humor in the worst of circumstances is a choice. To laugh or cry is your choice with two very different outcomes. I have been through many trials and tribulations in my life and everyday I choose to be happy, despite it all. Sure I cry at times but I refuse to let it consume me. It is within our power to make a conscious decision to stop just stop. Circumstances will not dictate to me how I will live my life. Every morning I wake up to a new day with a smile and look forward to making someone else smile. Or better yet, hear an all-out belly laugh. Humor does make all the difference in the world.

Through laughter the anger dissipates, the negative disintegrates and leaves opportunity for happiness to settle into your life. What's your choice going to be?
