Calling it a night means ending the date early and heading home. Instead of drinks, dinner and dancing before crashing out at midnight or later, you find yourself home by ten and suddenly craving a drink. What is it that makes women decide to call it a night? Believe it or not there are actually a lot of different reasons why this might happen, but the biggest reason is instinct.

We've all been on one of those dates where it felt like something was off, or maybe just not right. He said and did all the right things, but there was still something wrong. If your instincts and brain are screaming at you to leave, then call it a night. You never know when that seemingly nice guy might be hiding something a little darker or more sinister.

You'll also want to call it a night if you find yourself drinking too much or if you can't remember how many drinks you had. Drinking alcohol on a date causes you to lose control and lose your inhibitions. If you say, you'll find yourself drinking more and possibly making a choice that you'll regret later.

Another reason why you might want to call it a night is if the guy makes an inappropriate advance towards you. For example he might do something at the table or try to kiss you before you're ready. If he makes you uncomfortable in this way, then it's time to run. I had one date that I pulled the plug on because he frequently brought up oral sex and then mentioned multiple times how close his house was and how I should check it out.

The same thing applies in situations where he makes an inappropriate comment. A friend was on a date with a man who made several racist comments that sent her running for the door. I heard another story about a girl who's date opened up his trunk and showed her the collection of guns he carried with him at all times. Maybe those guys never learned how to act around a woman or on a date, but do you really want to take that chance?

If you're attracted to the guy, then it's time to call it a night. I know that sounds crazy, but it makes sense if you think about it. Yes you really like him and yes you are really attracted to him, but that's exactly why you need to walk away. Call it playing hard to get, call it playing the game, call it whatever you want. It gives you a little bit or control and lets him know that you're not going to just give in right away. Plus it lets you know if he's really interested in you or if he's just looking for a little late night fun.
