In the shadows where I sit
the riot that is my soul hammers against my chest.
I see your face before me
I feel your hands.
I look
knowing I'll see your smile
and stumble into nothingness.
When I close my eyes,
I can feel your laughter.
I banish you, but still
you linger.
Making me long for what could never be.
Never doubt that not one minute passes
where something in you, touches something in me.
Make me believe.

These days I live pretty leisurely,
Being retired and single, I do as I please,
She knows she must get out of bed
and pulls her eyes painfully to reality

What quietness is this that exists to torment my soul,
