Virginia Beach, VA is a beautiful city with lots of interesting activities and natural beauty. Besides being the largest Military base on the East Coast, Virginia Beach is a vital part of the 7-cities area known as Hampton Roads, that includes Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Newport News, Suffolk, and Hampton. It is hard to exclude the neighboring cities and talk exclusively about Virginia Beach, as they each play a big role in the makeup of a very intriguing area.

Virginia Beach offers several areas that are wonderful places to jog, including mini parks and play areas in each community. City sponsored parks include Bayville Farms, City View, Great Neck, Little Island, Munden Point, Reg Wing, Bow Creek, Princess Anne Park, and Woodstock Park. All of these parks offer well-kept grassy areas and landscaping, in addition to paved pathways, and most offer a play area for children to entertain themselves, and picnic tables and grills.

A wonderful place to jog is Mount Trashmore. Mount Trashmore is one of Virginia Beach's most famous landmarks, and as the name implies, is actually a mountain made out of trash. Before Virginia Beach became as populated as it is now, Mount Trashmore was a local dump that became so huge it looked like a mountain in the extremely flat landscape of Tidewater. Faced with the task of somehow moving all the trash to another area, the plan was made to cover the mound of trash with dirt, add playgrounds and a small lake, and turn it into a recreational area. The nickname stuck, and Mount Trashmore brings thousands of visitors joy every year. Having a paved track around the mountain and around the lake make Mount Trashmore one of the nicest areas for a jogger to enjoy. The scenery is beautiful and filled with local waterfowl, and there is a perpetual breeze blowing around the mountain. Mount Trashmore is a wonderful place to exercise, socialize, and de-stress.

The best place to jog in Virginia Beach is the Boardwalk at the oceanfront. What better place to exercise than viewing the exciting Atlantic Ocean as you run? There is always a cool breeze blowing off the ocean, and the air seems so fresh. The sound of the waves lapping ashore soon has you jogging in time with Mother Nature. The Boardwalk is three miles long, and offers water fountains along the way, along with benches where you can stop to rest and take in the scenery or people watch. If you get tired of jogging, you can stop to visit shops or grab some great food from the many restaurants.Or, you can always pull of your shoes and socks and dip your tired feet in the sand and cooling water for a refreshing treat.

Joggers have so many terrific choices of places to jog in Virginia Beach, they could choose a different location every day of the week, and never get tired of the routine of running. For more information, visit http://www.virginiabeach.com.
