Everyone has a different motivation to make more money. With that said, there are many reasons why you should make more money, and few of them are based on the practical matters of living from day to day.

Save for Vacation - One of the best reasons to make more money is to be able to save for your dream vacation. Whether you are interested in heading to Disney or Australia, vacations cost money. Many of us have sufficient savings for emergencies or day to day contingencies, but not everyone has a vacation fund. If you make more money, you will be able to save for that dream vacation. A vacation fund means that you won't have to wonder if you can afford a vacation.

Save for Retirement - One of the main reasons to make more money is to help feather your retirement nest. We have long since given up the expectation that our "guaranteed" retirement plans are going to help us survive once we give up work for good. You should make more money to help save a few extra dollars to put into your retirement account so when you need it most, you'll have the money available. You might even consider making more money to enable you to retire early.

Accidents Happen - Regardless of how good your medical benefits are, you may still be faced with a severe income crunch if you are injured and need to take time off work. While many companies offer both short and long term disability benefits, they do not start immediately and many have limited coverage periods. In addition, these plans generally do not cover your usual paycheck one hundred percent.

Gifts - Many of us know at the start of the year how many holidays we need to purchase gifts for, as well as birthdays and other milestones. No matter how closely you budget however, you'll inevitably be placed in a situation where someone gets married, has a baby or graduates. This could mean you'll have to dip into savings to purchase gifts. Making more money means you'll have those few extra dollars you need for those extra gifts.

Everyday expenses - In times of economic crisis you might find yourself wondering if you can get by. If you make more money while you are working a regular job, your lifestyle won't be jeopardized as much if you wind up losing your job. In fact, one other reason why you should make more money is that you can dramatically improve your lifestyle if you are practical and spend wisely.

Summary

Only you can determine your motivation for earning more money. There are as many reasons as there are people. Whether you have a lifelong dream to retire early, start your own home business, take a special vacation or simply want to make your lifestyle better, you alone should decide what the best reason is that you should make more money.
