Eggs and their health benefits

.

The only food that contains naturally occurring vitamin D is the incredible egg. Their healthy benefits don't stop there. Eggs promote healthy hair and nails because of their high sulphur content and wide array of vitamin and minerals. Besides the sulphur, eggs are rich in phosphorous, folic acid and vitamin A.

Eggs contain the purest form of protein found in whole foods. Their "biological value," a measurement used to determine how efficiently a protein is used for growth is 93.7; compared to 84.5 for milk and 76 for fish.

Eggs are great for dieting, too. In a weight loss study, participants ate either a breakfast of 2 eggs or a bagel breakfast, supplying the same calories. They did this for 8 weeks, as part of a low fat diet The egg eaters lost almost twice the weight (6lbs) as the bagel eaters (3.5lbs). Additionally, the egg eaters had an 83% greater decrease in waist circumference.

If your use of eggs is mainly just for breakfast, you may appreciate that eggs also make a wonderful lunch and supper main dish as well. A personal favorite great for lunch or a light supper is a dish of eggs and matzohs. On the surface it doesn't sound like it would be special, but it is a wonderful egg dish.

Eggs are a miraculous food and kind to your budget. Eggs are inexpensive, have a long refrigerator shelf life, and are easy to prepare. Eggs possess great nutritional value, and wonderful taste.
