As Christians, we have an obligation to give advice to teens about Jesus. It is very important to give Christian advice to teens, but we also must know that teens are easily pressured. So we must be sure not to go to far with the advice. One of the best pieces of advice I have heard is to talk to a pastor, they can start you in the right direction and wont pressure you.
Teens are always going to be hard headed, so many times teens will not even listen to what your saying when you give them advice. Just like the saying it will go in one ear and out the other. Its kind of like smoking or drinking in teens, you parents will talk to you about it and pressure you to not do it and keep safe. Which is a solid method for making sure two things could happen. One is that the teens will feel so pressured by the parents that they are scared to try anything. The second is that they might be mad at there parents or hate there parents and do it just because of them. So when giving Christian advice, make sure not to over do it.
Also remember that God is helping out too. So when you do your part to help the teens, God will take care of the rest. Meaning that God is going to continue to tug and pull at the teen, and in the end God will win the fight. But the person maybe to hard headed to admit god won. Another thing is forcing your teens to go to church. If your a parent, then this can be a hard decision. This can either make them more rebellious or be the one things that makes them come to god. Its most likely will depend on the teens attitude toward church. A good thing to tell teens about is what God can do for you. It will make then have more willingness to listen and move in a relationship with God. A great way to show teens to God is to be and example. By leading in your own relationship with God, you are showing them that God is the is the best decision you could ever make.
Remember to lead by example to your teen. Many people are hypocrites, make it hard for teens to actually believe what your saying is true. As you move in you relationship with God, people and teens will see the work he has done in your life. Teens look up to people, and the more you show how God had changed your life, the more teens will see that it can change their life too.
Take a look at this verse:
"Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment."
-Ecclesiastes 10:9
