"Daddy," said Rose Abigail Hortense Packracker, "you know I am your most beautiful daughter, but now I know I am taller than Mary Tealily Thumbelina Jones because Mother has styled my hair so prettily atop my head. Please Mother and Father, can we go and visit with my cousin Mary, so that she can see my new hairdo?" Now Rose didn't really just want to show off her new hairdo, she also wanted to compare herself to Mary and see if she did indeed stand taller than her cousin. So off they went to visit.
Rose barely let the car stop before she was out of her car seat and running up to her cousin Mary Tealily Thumbelina Jones's house. "Ding dong, ding dong," rang out the door bell. She jumped about so quickly that her beautiful new hairdo started to sway in the breeze. "Oh mother and father," said Rose, "I really do hope Mary is home so that we can play our favorite game of shoo fly shoo. I'll just peek through the window and see if I can see Mary." Rose's hair started to lean to the left as she tilted her head to look in the window. "Ow, my hair is moving strangely in the breeze, I hope it stays up," said Rose as she jumped up and down faster and faster.
Rose's parents came running up to the door to stop Rose from breaking it down.
"Wow" said Rose's mother, "she really wants to see her cousin badly."
"Oh boy," said Rose's father, "we should have called first, because I don't think they're home."
Suddenly the front door was thrown open and out tumbled Mary Tealily Thumbelina Jones, squealing with delight. "Oh Rose, I am so happy to see you. You must have special powers, because I was just wishing that I would have you to play shoo fly shoo with," said Mary. Mary stopped in the middle of saying more to look at Rose sideways. "Why Rose, you sure do look different. Did you do something different with your hair?"
Rose twirled around and around for her cousin to see. "Why no," she fibbed, "I just think I may have grown some, that's all. Stand beside me Mary and let's see who's taller. Mother oh mother of my beautiful, bountiful, blue haired self, aren't I taller than Mary now?"
Well, Rose's mother didn't know what to say, because as she stood in front of her sister Belinda Joanna Peaquant Jones's house looking back and forth from her daughter to her niece it was quite apparent that Rose was still shorter than her cousin. She said, "Rose it does not matter who's taller than who, you don't have to be taller to play shoo fly shoo." Well this didn't go over
