Poetry: A kiss

by David Colello

Of all the kisses you have given me,

From sleepy peck to ravaging embrace,

With eyes kept shut there still is one I see;

Our first, the sweet caress that set me free!

It came with speed and ran off just the same,

As suddenly as thunderous summer storms.

Your lips sent lightning coursing through my frame,

My mind in shock left echoing your name.

All kisses have been known to leave a mark,

But such a kiss as this one changes lives!

Each day our pasts began to feel more stark,

Compared with that which we would soon embark.

You danced your way into my heart that day;

The grace of Love was there to guide your steps.

So know that as we laugh and cry and play,

That kiss forever in my thoughts will stay.
