Work Life Balance to Control Stress

Business and the individual benefit from a balanced work life. The more skills we develop away from the office add to the skill sets necessary for success in the workplace. When the two work together, individuals experience stress minimizations and worklife can thrive

Workplace to Personal Life

The human body needs a full spectrum of activity, but frequently our work world only tasks us in one or more area. Examine the cubicle employee who works at a computer for large parts of the day. The body screams that you need activity but the job needs you to be sedentary. In the off hours, you need to add more activity so you return to work prepared for the sedentary life. If the off hours activities did not occur urges for activities would distract the employee.

Another example is the choice of more relaxing or intellectually challenging activities for people whose work is physical. The energy level of the body has limits so physically stressful activities away from the workplace would not revitalize. Moreover, the brain needs draining as well.

When the end of the day arrives, the body and the mind must reach exhaustion in order to relax. An individual needs to find the means to accomplish both and the workplace might only be one portion

Personal life to workplace

When individuals can join in community boards and organizations, the employees practice skills that transfer to the workplace. In order to accomplish tasks within volunteer groups it takes extreme communication and negotiation skills with positive acceptance of decisions contrary to one own point of view. What employer would not enjoy an employee who has developed the skill?

Employees answer the question frequently what do you do. They are not asking what volunteer work you do and if you say you are retired people the follow up question is how you fill your time. People want to know of your professional life. This becomes word of mouth advertisement so the employer benefits from facilitating time away from the job.

Target audiences that were unknown to the employer surface through activities of employees. As stated by a parent about their child secluding himself that he cannot know what there is if you do not go out and see what there is. The same exists for employers. Send your employees out for free research

Businesses benefit by being able to illustrate how important their business is to the community. The community needs them coaching little league, running golf tournaments and many activities. With out their employees these activities might not occur. This is a great defense for fair business law and ordinances

Business and employees need more of a life than the workplace. With mutual support, both minimize their own stress.
