Biologically it makes sense that men drink more than women due to the fact that their bodies can retain more alcohol without getting drunk. However, if you are considering the percentage it takes to get drunk, women go over that percentage line more often than males. In other words, I am stating that while males normally drink more alcohol because their bodies can hold it more, but females tend to get drunk or wasted more often than males do.

Why is this?

It is pretty simple actually. It seems to be a common fact that women are more insecure than males on an average basis. Additionally women have a stronger need to belong to a group due to their more social nature. This means that when females are in a group of people they are more susceptible to peer pressure. So if someone in the group is sayind hey guys let's take some shots as soon as one person grabs the shot glass, everyone else follows suit, and if there are males and females in the group even if they both drink the same about, the females will get drunk much more rapidly than their male companions.

I have also found that when males start drinking it's normally to loosen up or to get rid of their nerves. But when females start drinking it's because everyone else is and they want to keep up the fun factor. If you look at these two reasons for drinking it makes sense that males only need to drink a little in order to get that relaxed sensation, and once they get there, they normally can stop drinking. However, females tend to not put a boundary on their drinking habits and tend to be much more carpe diem in their thinking.

Females also want to be noticed by the males from their amazing drinking abilities. So they continue their drinking games hoping to get attention, but rather just end up getting drunk and laughed at by the males that are there. Males also love to see women make fools out of themselves, which can be sometimes why they don't stop the females from getting drunk.

Females need to understand better the repercussions of their actions and be better educated about the differences of how quick it takes for a male to get drunk and a female to get drunk. While males can, and normally do drink more, females try to catch up to the males and drink more than what their bodies can take. Women need to be comfortable in their own shoes and should not be trying to catch up to anyone. Next time you're out partying and you see your female friend drinking more than she can handle, what are you going to do about it?
