Friend, we were close once.
Your smile, as I whispered in your ear
Does echo in my mind
Now that I am alone.
I sit silently here,
And the crashing of the waves on the sea shore
Cannot hide my tears,
Or drown the sound of your laughter
That's ringing in my ear,
Fresh as it was that day,
Though long ago your love staled.
I know you never said our love
Would last ages, like the earth-
But constant assult over time
From waves of great power
Wears even the greatest rocks-
Like us- victims of time
