I have personally been asked the question, "Do you need a website to make money online?" more times than I could ever begin to count. The short answer to this question is that no, you don't, though it can prove advantageous in certain circumstances.
In order to make money online, already having a website is only truly going to be advantageous to businesses or companies who are looking to sell their products or services online. They will use all the other methods detailed in this article ultimately as a means of driving targeted traffic to their website and hopefully securing increased sales or demand for their services. There are few circumstances where the individual will know any great advantages from already having a website when trying to make money online.
The online world is of course awash with alleged money making schemes. It seems sometimes that every Internet page we view has ads offering us the answer to all our financial problems and riches beyond our wildest dreams. These ads most often sound too good to be true and that is because almost all of them are. The bottom line when seriously attempting to make money online is to completely ignore these ads and get on with the business at hand.
There is no getting away from the fact that barring an unimaginable amount of luck, making money online is going to require time and effort on the part of the business owner or individual. Roughly speaking, the amount of time invested will translate in to the amount of money earned but this is not a hard and fast rule. Those seeking to make their fortune overnight online are unfortunately heading for a big wake-up call.
The two big ways to make money online are by securing Google Adsense revenue and selling affiliate products. Those with specialised services to offer such as writers can of course earn in different ways but I will restrict the content of this article to ensure it is relevant to as many readers as possible.
Google Adsense is essentially where an individual or business signs up with Google for an account and includes the coded details of said account on their website or blog. This will allow Google to place ads on the site, determined by the site content and tags, as relevant as possible to the subject of the site. When a site visitor clicks on said ads, the site or blog owner will earn a small revenue. Although each click may only be worth a few cents, very popular sites and blogs can earn a substantial amount of money from this service.
