When you give expect nothing in return.
To some people, receiving might seem better than giving, thinking that they are not going to hand something out, thus what they have would remain as there own. But I disagree with them. I would prefer to give than receive.
It is better to give than to receive, especially when you have the capacity to help others and share your blessings. We should not worry if nothing will be given to us in return on that exact moment. Because the return of that blessing will be folded a thousand times in the right place and in the right time. We are talking about good karma here.
I am a giver. My friends could always prove that. And they would always ask me why am I giving them small gifts or food even if there is no special occasion. I would always tell them that I am deriving happiness through that act. I love to give especially when the person appreciates that little effort/act of giving. Seeing their happiness creates happiness in my part as well. It is like a chain. If one part of the chain is touched/moved, the rest of it moves too. It is like when you give something to someone, that someone upon seeing your goodness, would also do good to others, and the chain will never be broken. Next thing you know, that little act of giving has already been multiplied a thousand times to others.
When you give, you will truly give, no ifs no buts. You have the intention to give but never expect anything as a sign of re payment. Expecting something in return would defeat your purpose of giving something by heart. It is because, when you are expecting something to be given back to you, you will feel disappointed if the favor is not being returned. So instead of feeling good, you will result to feeling bad thinking that your efforts are not being rewarded.
A very good example I can think of, maybe the best example was what Jesus Christ did for us. He gave up His life for His people. He wants all of us to be saved. He didn't mind the pain and the sacrifice. He was the only unselfish person I know, the only person who has shown His unconditional love to everyone, whether you are from His race or not. We should all learn to be like Him. We should all be unselfish with what we have, because what we have right now are the resources lent by God meant for everybody to enjoy. And besides you can never really carry all your possessions when you die. Might as well share it now before everything is too late.
