see the me i try to hide
scared inside
wishing you could call to say hello
when you do out of the blue
i play cool and distant
so resistant
mind spins instantly at your voice
playing how i could've said all it instead
a look you gave me last night
left me like this
aimless breathless speechless
humming love songs going home
hoping like the fools before
far too many times a day i wonder
angel fast asleep or devil who i pull too close
tripped and fell on clumsy lack of words
crashed hard into broken wall of me
but can you see behind it
