Like most modern women, you are rushing around to fulfill your duties as mom, wife, employee, etc. But when do you get time to do something for yourself? for instance taking a few minutes to apply makeup?

You may not think you have the time, but with a few simple makeup tips, you will look and feel so much better about yourself that it's really worth the effort.

If you aren't in the habit of using makeup or have fallen out of the habit, here are some simple makeup tips for busy women to easily get you started.

Clean Your Face Well

Whether you use soap, a skin cleanser, or disposable face wipes, you should start with a clean slate. Once you are through, pat your face dry and then apply a light toner. There are all types of toners on the market, and they run the gamut from those for dry skin to oily skin.

Apply Moisturizer

This is especially important if you have dry or aged skin. It will make your skin look alive and dewy and will take years off your appearance. Try different moisturizers until you find the one you like best.

Don't Forget the Blush

Use cream or powder blush to add bloom to your cheeks. Sweep it high up on your cheekbones from the apples of your cheeks, but don't put so much on as to give a clown-like appearance. Remember, less is more; so wipe off any excess.

Mascara, Mascara, Mascara

This is one of the most important makeup items in your bag of tricks. Put a coat of mascara on both upper and lower lashes, let it dry, and repeat again. This will open up your eyes and add color if you have very pale eyelashes. (You may also want to apply pencil to your eyebrows. Using it on your upper and lower lids is optional.)

Lipstick is One of Your Best Friends

Try different colors to see which ones flatter your skin tones and give you your best look. Don't line the outer part of your lips with a darker color or use a color that is so pale it turns you into a ghost. Just because the cosmetics industry is pushing certain colors this season doesn't mean they will necessarily work for you. However, you will instinctively know which ones look best on you.

Nails are Important

If you can't get your nails done professionally, at the very least, file and paint them with clear polish for a finished look. People notice your hands, and clear polish will show that you care about the statement your hands make.

Once you get the hang of all of these steps, they shouldn't take you more than about ten minutes to apply. Keep all items together in a makeup bag or in a special drawer for quick and easy access in the morning. The nails can probably go at least three or four days without a touch up.

So start looking your most attractive immediately. These simple makeup tips for busy women only take a matter of a few minutes a day, and will make you feel terrific.
