Are looking for that unique yet sentimental gift for your dad? Do you want to make your father a special gift? If so, check out the homemade projects and ideas below that allow everyone to get involved in the fun of making that special gift. In addition, celebrate your favorite moments in pictures with your dad by displaying them in one of the projects listed below. However, if you’re a child, be sure to ask an adult to help you with each project you intended to make.
Family Yardstick
(Items Needed)
A yardstick for correct measurements (cut the molding down to the exact size)
6 ft. strip of flat molding (2inches wide)
Small Pictures
Black Marker
Glue
Scissors
Glitter
Tulip glue
Polyurethane
The Family Yardstick will allow a father to enjoy showing off his children and his family. Allow him to see his favorite moments every time he measures something in the house or on at work. First, you will need to use the yardstick, as a guide to mark your measurements on the piece of molding with a black permanent marker. Next, cut out and glue small pictures on each measured foot of the new yardstick, while also using the tulip paint to write a special message to dad.
Shake the glitter over your message and let the homemade yardstick dry for about twenty-four hours. Then, apply the polyurethane as instructed on the can and let the stick dry in a dust free environment for another twenty-four hours. After you are sure that it is dry, wrap it up and hide it somewhere safe until that special day. This way, on Father's Day, you can surprise him with a homemade yardstick that shows off his favorite moments. In addition, he will enjoy determining the size of something based on the faces of those he loves the most.
Table of Memories
(Items Needed)
Small Wooden Table (stained)
Pictures
Glue
Polyurethane
Imagine giving your father a small table of memories, which he can enjoy for many years to come while sitting in his favorite recliner or chair. Every time he sits down, he will be reminded of your love and hard work that you put into making his new memory table. First, you must gather the supplies you will need to build the table correctly and clean the table.
Once the table is dry, begin gluing your favorite pictures into a collage pattern and let it dry for twenty-four hours. Finally, apply the polyurethane and allow it to dry thoroughly, before touching it again. Then surprise your dad with it on Father’s Day, by bringing it out of hiding and setting beside his favorite chair. Furthermore, this unique and inexpensive, yet priceless gift will be a treasured for years and years to come by your father.
Family Picture Book
(Items Needed)
Pictures
Cardstock
Glue
Markers
Stickers
Scissors
Hole punch
A Ribbon
Creating a family picture book is a fun project for the whole family to get involved with, especially on Father's Day. Take time to gather up your supplies and pictures you want to use for the pages. Give each member a picture to glue on to the card stock and let them dry before decorating the page. In addition, they can write out a special message and/or a caption about the pictures.
Then, have someone make a cover page and a back page with the books information, along with each author's name. Punch two holes on the left side of the book, one on the top and one the bottom of each page. Next, cut a long string of the ribbon and string it through the holes in the book. Finally, tie the ends into a bow and watch your father become surprised. Especially, when he sees the priceless book you have made just for him.
