How to remember your dad on Father's day

by Imogen Rayne

Created on: June 09, 2009

Every year, we celebrate Father's Day by giving dad a special day that shows him how special he is to his family. We usually buy a gift that is hardly used and generally forgotten about through the years. This year, do not waste your money or precious time worrying about what to buy dad, instead you can make him a scrapbook from your heart. Furthermore, your gift will be priceless and memorable, if you ask the whole family to get involved in your project.

Gathering Pictures

First, ask the family to decide what kind of scrapbook you will be making and gather all the materials that will be needed. Look in old albums and photo boxes for pictures of favorite memories and cherished moments. Pick out several pictures to add to your project and add a short story under them. Feel free to add as many pages and pictures as you want, so you can remind him why he is so special in your life.

Cherished Memories

Showcase your favorite memories, while giving him a homemade present that he will always cherish for years to come. This type of gift would mean more to him than anything you could buy for him. He will instantly take a stroll down memory lane and express your gratitude for his love through the years. Show him how special he is to you, by taking time out of your busy schedule to make a scrapbook about your life together.

Adding Stories

If you want to be a little more creative, you can add a short story under each picture and memory you have selected. Be sure that the story explains how you or your family member remembers the occasion. Additionally, you can add your father's short biography at the beginning or end of the book. Make sure to highlight his accomplishments, since this will mean so much to him and the family.

Remembering Dad

Some families have lost their father and they can become sad on this special day. This loss can be hard on the whole family, but the scrapbook can help you celebrate his memory. In addition, the family can meet and have a tribute dinner for him. You will ensure that his memory is never forgotten by doing this every father's day. Then, new members of the family could learn more about the person they never knew.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Father's Day is a perfect time to remember your father, by making a scrapbook that will showcase his life with you. Give every one in the family a chance to participate and pick out the best pictures. However, if your father has passed away, consider planning a tribute dinner every year. Therefore, you can honor and/or remember the man, who is special to your heart.
