Working at McDonald's can earn you money; eating there can turn you fat. Deciding which is worse is practically a no-brainer.
Having two cousins, three aunts and an uncle work at different branches of the fabled Golden Arches, each with varying levels of success in their positions, I can truly say that it's one of the more decent jobs available today. They can work there for as long as they can, at least they'll be earning an honest buck. Now eating at McDonald's every single day of your life, that's a different issue altogether.
Here are the top five reasons as to why eating at McDonald's is a whole lot worse than working there:
1) By eating at McDonald's or any fast food restaurant for that matter, you can become "fast food"-dependent.
Being fast food dependent entails a lot of commitment on your part. Commitment to drive yourself closer to health risks that is. There's a reason why healthcare professionals advise people to cut down on a steady diet of burgers, fries, and cola.
I'm not saying that individuals who choose to chow down on fast food everyday are killing themselves. No, they are just putting themselves at risk. Which, if you think about it, is just one fine line away from actually killing themselves. Why do you have to rely on fast food to satiate your hunger when you can just as easily consume the food coming from your own kitchen? That's because you've turned into McJunkies.
2) Kids may soon prefer the taste of fast food over healthier home-cooked meals.
It's debatable whether McDonald's primarily target the youth or not, but that's not the main issue here. Majority of kids will always have a palate for these fast food items. They love everything the Golden Arches can provide. Of course, we can't blame them, they're just programmed that way.
My main beef (pardon the pun) is that these kids will never get to appreciate what a home-cooked meal can offer. When they're late for a home dinner, it's usually because they grabbed a quick bite at Ronald's place. It's quickly becoming a convenient excuse. I mean why would you choose the lame meat and potatoes meal back home, when you can have the high-fat albeit tastier variety? And now, I leave this as a challenge for parents everywhere. Convert your kids back into loving home-cooked meals instead of "Lovin' It".
3) Eating at McDonald's, you'll soon realize there's not that much variety of food choices.
Just look at the menu, would you? Try to scour the whole thing and you will find
