Healthy eating cannot be successfully put into practise without the correct attitude to food. It is not going to do any good to tiptoe around the subject, adding a piece of fruit per day and removing an unhealthy snack if you have been eating unhealthily for years! The destructive foods that you have consumed will have done a large amount of damage to your body, even if you are not yet noticing any negative symptoms. To do this right it must be done wholeheartedly!
Revolutionise your attitude to food:
The way we think about the foods that we place into our mouths makes a vital difference to whether we will enjoy it and wish to eat it regularly. For instance food manufacturers place sugars into their products in order to get us addicted to them, but it is not necessary for our health because there are beneficial sugars in all natural foods, such as vegetables, grains and fruit.
It is easy to adjust to the taste of foods that do not have added sugar and other additives by thinking about the life changing health benefits you will receive. Cravings for it will disappear after a while as long as you do not allow yourself to become hungry.
Food is fuel for life
Think of food as your fuel for life and not as a reward, treat, or simply as something to fill you up when you are hungry. When you are preparing it, rather than feeling that you would rather be doing something more exciting think of the extra time you will gain by being healthy to spend with your loved ones and doing things you enjoy, instead of being in hospital or taking years off your life.
Prepare and cook meals from scratch
Processed supermarket foods have usually been altered until they bear little or no resemblance to real food. Margarine, or spreads for example are cooked at such high temperatures that the end product is similar to plastic. It is only yellow because they dye it; it is actually black from the heat! Remember that processed food manufacturers do not care about your health; they want your money.
Eat as much natural food as possible if you are serious about healthy eating. Cooking a meal from scratch need take no longer than half an hour and surely most of us could spend a little less time on the computer or watching television. Meals cooked with our own hands always taste better than bought foods!
