Did you know anyone can run a marathon or a race? Sounds like an impossible feat doesn't it? Finishing a race whether it is twenty six miles or two miles is actually not as hard as it sounds, even if you have never run a day in your life.
There are many ways to start running along with many reasons why to start running. Even if you start out running part of the way and walking part of the way it does not matter, the sense of accomplishment after finishing any race is just unbelievable. You're probably wondering why in heaven's name would anyone want to do this to themselves? Why would you want to get sweaty, have sore muscles, and be short of breath for extended periods of time? Why put yourself through the torment of running twenty six whole miles? Well to start off with the training will get you into the best shape of your life, running is a great all around exercise. You get toned, buff, and can shed unwanted pounds in a healthy way.
This is not the only reason you to run a marathon. Are you trying to meet new people? Getting into a running group is a great start. You can train with people who run in your same pace time. Just starting out? So are many others. You can find these groups by searching on line for running groups in your area. Some groups meet for long runs, short runs, or even track workouts. They usually meet a few times a week at different times to accommodate varying work schedules. Its a great way to get in shape and meet new people. Often times its easier to get yourself motivated with a group of people then it is by yourself. If you're single this is a great way to meet a potential date too! It gives you a great conversation starter! If you are going through a stressful time at work or at home running is a great way to fix that.
Running is a mental sport. Once you get out there and find your groove you will start to notice that your head starts to clear and you are off in your own little world of running bliss. You then start to realize its a great time to clear your head and think stressful things through a bit. Bang out a few miles and you come home refreshed and with new ideas on how to make things a little less stressful. Along with just getting into shape, running is one of the few sports that doesn't always involve a team. You can run for you and you alone, the accomplishment you feel after completing a race whether its a marathon or a 5k you'll never forget how amazing you feel afterwards.
Now get out there and start running!
