Poetry: No time

Time

As I sit and survey my life,

I think of all the cliches about time.

It waits for no man, it rolls on, it must not be wasted.

I recall in years gone by, how I laughed at these trite sayings,

and dismissed them with a careless wave of my hand.

And now, in the autumn of my life, with bittersweet regret,

I realize that I should not have dismissed them at all.

I give them serious consideration, and I ferverently wish for more time.

Indeed, it does roll on, it waits for no man, or woman for that matter,

and most of all it is a precious gift, not to be wasted.
