Homeopathy is a natural system of medicine that uses specially prepared remedies to stimulate the immune system. Some remedies are made from herbs, however homeopathy is not related to herbalism.

Brief History

In the 18th century a German physician, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, made the principle of homeopathy while becoming disillusioned with the side-effects of medical treatments. While he was investigating the anit-malarial effects of cinchona bark he discovered that it gave him that type of fever.

Between 1790 and 1805 Hahnemann tested over 60 drugs from a variety of sources on himself and a group of students. While discovering the range of symptoms they were capable of causing he found out what they could also cure.

During his time, disease's were treated with large doses of toxic substances and many patients were literally poisoned. Hahnemann was careful to test the substances for their homeopathic effects in a diluted form.

Hahnemann found that the effectiveness of the remedy actually increased with dilution, while also decreasing the side effects.

In acute illness homeopathy treats acute symptoms safely and effectively, has no side effects, works with the immune system, improves resistance to infection and shortens recovery time. Diseases can bot build an immunity to homeopathic remedies.

Homeopathic remedies stimulate the immune system. A homeopath will go over all symptoms and then prescribe the perfect remedy to treat all aspects of the ailment.

Homeopathic dilution

Homeopathy used preparations containing microscopic amounts of the original substance. To make the 6 potency (6 centesimal potency) one part of the medicine is added to 99 parts of milk sugar or alcohol and succussed 6 times. A 30 potency has gone through 30 times. Even though it is diluted more, the succession makes it more powerful and is usually used for serious conditions.
