Relax in England
Ever want to go across the pond and visit England but the idea of being in a busy metropolitan area turn you off yet you fear that if you visit anyplace else in England that you may get lost? Don't fret, you don't need to visit a big city to see great things in any country; especially England.
Why England?
It's a good way to get your toes wet so to speak when going to a country with a lot of history. You won't have to worry too much about high altitudes or far too remote places. Not only that but you already know that they speak English so there won't be too much of a language barrier.
If not a metropolitan city like London, Manchester, or Birmingham then where?
That depends on what sort of scenery/area you would enjoy. Is it a beach, forest, or plain countryside? What if you wanted all three in one? That would be a simple answer; go to Somerset, England.
Where is Somerset?
It's an area about 150 miles west of London. It has small villages (yes, villages), beach fronts, wooded areas, and country sides. There are plenty of Bed & Breakfast places and even places that you cater to yourself (it's called a self catering chalet). There are caravan sites, and some pubs/inns have rooms as well.
What's good in Somerset?
There are an abundance to see in Somerset. If you want a bit of history you could visit the Longleat House or drive on into their Safari area and see some wild animals. You could visit Cheddar Gorge where there are two caves to explore, you could also do some rock repelling there as well. Go to Wookie Hole to their cave and other activity areas. The Jane Austin house is near by, some mills, and so on. If you just want to relax, the beach can be found in Burnham on Sea on the coast of Somerset but be surprised; the shore and water are muddy but don't be concerned, the water is clean.
There is even a small amusement park in an area called Brean where you can take the kids to have fun. There's a chalet place called Pontins right next door to the amusement park that is self catering. The Pontins area is very child friendly and in fact a lot of the attractions in Somerset are as well.
Looking for alcohol but not a heavy price tag and not by pint/bottle?
Try going to the local farms. Somerset is famous for their homemade cider. Have you not tried alcoholic cider before? If not then it's a great place to try. There's a farm near Burnham on Sea called Cider Farm Lakes that makes their
