Poetry: Food humor

For the Love of Snack Cakes!

Love, thy name is Debbie

Little, individually wrapped

In the palm of my hand I hold

Your frosted love, eternal. Like

no other you have been with me,

seen my tears and triumph;

satiated me when no other

could; surpassed only by

Yourself when in concert

with nearly freezing milk.

Debbie, you heal me in

ways I thought impossible.

Is it the chocolate?

Is it the oatmeal? You

cross my lips as a cream-filled

spring of joy glistening

in the light of a rainbow.

An angelic, gastric symphony plays

Debbie, sweet Debbie, my love
