I cannot keep my eyes open in this dark and barren place.
We are so tired but the ghosts outside wail.
They call to our souls, tempting and coaxing,
promising warmth and life amidst the cold.
We listen to their pleas, the wicked Sirens of the wind
who have taken many mortal men under their wing,
fooled by their promises of love and warmth
to join them in their haunting melodies.
They rob us of our only source of candlelight,
licking the flame clean and laughing at our pain.
Ill-prepared we were for these demons of the storm
who once seemed so innocent and playful.
Some of us tremble. Others lay still, succumbing to their song.
I fear for our sanity in this dark, cavernous place.
There is no escape, so we remain in the shadows
hoping that they won't hear those of us left inside.
Suddenly, I feel an icy hand upon my ankle.
They have found me! I am next!
The chill thunders down my spine at breakneck speed
to meet halfway and greet them.
They embrace me. Whisper sweet nothings into my ear,
taunting me with lips of sharpened ice.
They rob me of any warmth left in me.
My shivering begins to subside.
The chrous wails. My eyes grow heavy,
Hours upon days here and I am so very tired.
Weakened, I cannot fight the Sirens
who will take me with playful glee.
The world grows dark, their enchanting songs echo
through this feeble mind which has had enough.
In the distance there is a faint light
but it grows dimmer... and dimmer...
I feel flesh upon flesh at last.
Freedom from our peril, but perhaps too late.
My mind is dancing with the sirens
and singing in the choir they have choreographed.
Upon the gentle winds at home
I rested many of my tales of love.
Now the winds shall steal my heart,
the numbing passion to which I shall succumb.

Billy Wind is cross tonight,
Throwing storm clouds at the moon,
Rattling, banging, crashing, howling,
Ripping, tearing; sighing

White smoke drifts quietly away from lodge,
like a distant, fond memory I can't seem
to hold on to for long- I
The wind:
Blowing, teasing,
playfully caressing
the leaves
as they cross paths.
Whistling, singing.

Wind swirls
Know not how
Gentle breeze
Across your brow
Rustling leaves
Musical sound
Quaking aspens
Dearly found
Winds
As gentle as a mothers kiss
upon her babies face
As forceful as some nitroglyce’
Explosive to erase
As kind to push
