Children and athletics

Athletics are good for children to be involved in. Sports do help children to develop well. Sports also teach children to be disciplined. What they won't necessarily do is make your child well-rounded. That comes from talking with your children as well as working with them on some school projects. Getting involved in a sports program could add to their development though. It could also lead to their playing professionally, although more children want that than can have it.

Athletics do not guarantee that your child won't get involved in drugs though because I know that in one case a boy took steroids in the hopes of getting bigger and stronger, and he said it is not uncommon.

Althetics can be fun, and your children can make more friends. I wouldn't push all children into sports though. Some would rather play games like chess, checkers and cards, and these are good for helping to make children more well-rounded too. Then there are also groups like Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to help them make friends and keep them out of trouble which can lead to them developing leadership and group skills.
