Ways to generate extra income online

One potentially great online profit source is Craigslist. There are two ways to use Craigslist to make money - one is by buying inventory on it to flip on eBay and another is by buying products to sell on Craigslist.

When looking to buy products for resale on Craigslist you need to keep in mind that there are 2 types of people selling on Craigslist

People who are selling to make a profit People who are selling to get rid of stuff

You want to find the 2nd type - or at least a combination of the two.

The first thing that you want to do is check the free items - every once in a while you'll find something of value for free (doesn't get much easier than that) but you have to be fast - valuable free items are gone minutes after they post.

Then you want to check for products that sell well on eBay. The following categories are what I usually check for:

Tools - you want to check for brand names such as Stihl, Craftsman, Snap-on, and Mac. Make sure that the tools work - also make sure that there will be a big profit margin for them on eBay since tools are usually heavy and can be expensive and time consuming to ship.

Sporting Goods - I usually check mainly for golf clubs. Brand names such as Taylor, Nike, Ping, and Tommy Armour are all big sellers on eBay. Make sure that they are in decent condition and the grips are good you can usually negotiate them down. You can buy and sell individual clubs or sets. I also check for Head and Nike tennis rackets - but I only buy them dirt cheap because they usually don't hold their values very long on eBay. There is also some potential with water sports equipment but I do not know enough about that to write about it yet.

Musical Instruments - Musical instruments are huge sellers on eBay and because of the high cost of most of them they can sometimes be hard to sell on Craigslist. If you learn about what instruments are good sellers on eBay and are good at packaging them - this can prove profitable. I often find guitars that would be flippable but I'm often short on the cash to buy the guitar!

Some other categories that require more time and digging are: electronics, computers, books, cds and dvds. These categories often have hundreds of items listed per day at above value prices but if you dig enough you can sometimes find something salable.

Besides Craigslist, check to see if your town has another website where people sell items. Where I live, there is a yard sales site and I can sometimes find products to
