Over the years, television has given us many things, entertainment, information, and perhaps above all endearing and memorable characters. People all over the world love watching characters they can relate to, laugh at, and just plain love. But who are the most memorable television characters? And what makes them so lovable? Here is a top ten list few could argue with.

10. Jack Tripper - One of the first misunderstanding-creating, stupid-mistake-making, physical-comedy-ruling, bumbling idiots the whole world loved. No one was more ridiculous or hilarious as Jack with his two female roommates. And no one was equally more lovable. Who could forget that face after Jack realizes the mistake he had made? Or the numerous trips and falls, down stairs, over couches, through swinging doorways, the list is endless. Jack Tripper was a comedian, a friend, and a true stand up guy. That is what made him so unforgettable to the millions of people who tuned in to Three's Company every week.

9. The Fonz - Cool, suave, and a rebel, Arthur Fonzarelli captured hearts and became one of the most memorable TV characters of the 70's. The leather-jacket wearing high school drop out was a character teens could relate to. He was a high school drop out, a rebel, and yet seemed to have a heart of gold. Dealing with real life problems, from absent parents to race conflicts in the community, the Fonz brought serious life issues to sitcom silliness. That's not to say he was a serious character. He may have been troubled and pugnacious, but the Fonz was also sweet and even funny. Teens and adults alike tuned into Happy Days religiously just to see what the Fonz would do next.

8. Cliff Huxtable - A doctor, a family man, a comedian, and an African American; Dr. Heathcliff Huxtable changed the face of television as the father of one of television's most loved families, the Huxtables. The first show to depict a successful and loving African American Family living in New York City, The Cosby Show was one-of-a-kind. Families across the nation sat down to watch this show together. Cliff dealt with his five children with love and understanding. He was a strict father who never hesitated to hug his children or tell them he loved them. He was a devoted husband who loved and honored his equally successful wife. The show's humor stemmed from Cliff's interactions with his children whom he often teased, but never disrespected. It's no wonder Cliff Huxtable is still one of the most remembered television
