doesn't mean you will always be successful. There are students who would quit the moment they fail in something they've worked hard on. This should not be the case. Learn from your mistakes and if you fall down, brush yourself off, stand up, and try again.
(6) Develop a sense of volunteerism.
Don't put a price tag on everything you do. Students who volunteer solely for the reason of being rewarded are usually the ones who would quit halfway-through the task at hand. The dedicated ones stay active even without the guarantee of a reward. Remember that being a part of noble causes is priceless.
(7) Start and maintain a to-do list.
Having a to-do list may very well be instrumental in converting even the most passive student into someone active. The list can serve as an urgent reminder whenever a student falls idle. Although it's optional, this is a useful tool which can keep you on the right track and help you organize your tasks for the day.
(8) Take leadership positions and other responsibilities.
There's a leadership potential in each person waiting to be uncovered. When a leadership position is open, take that as an opportunity for you to shine. Sometimes, even the most passive student can turn out to be the best leader in the class. As stated previously, you'll never really discover (and develop) that potential if you don't even try.
(9) If necessary, don't hesitate to seek out help from adults.
This step will teach you the value of assertiveness. You see, being active and being assertive works hand-in-hand. Adults, like relatives, teachers, or even older students, have loads of experience to back them up. Aside from your own experiences, it will also be helpful to learn from the experience of others who have been in your situation before.
(10) Motivate other students to become active as well.
So you have become an active student, it should not stop there. Consider yourself as a conduit which will pass on that newly found spark to other passive students. The "active bug" is pretty contagious. Next thing you know, you've managed to make your whole class active.
By following these ten steps with enough passion and conviction, you won't be that nameless passive zombie lurching through the hallways anymore.
