Libertarians: Why the future looks bright for this growing political party

You can think of Libertarians as the other white meat. The third largest political party in the United States and is getting bigger each year. The party has a basic and simple belief that there should be less government and more freedoms. In the current state of our country there are many reasons why that would be appealing to people.

If you go to their web site (

lp.org) you will immediately know what the fundamentals of the party are. Smaller Government, Lower Taxes, More Freedom. Once you look around the site a little you see how much they stress each of these things and how they could benefit you and the rest of the country. The site talks about how we have given too much to the government that isn't giving us what we want when its our money. They say the government has too much power and should more or less be a middle man, just there to regulate things, without too much regulation. They really just want the government to stop being the biggest part of their lives, and want to move on with more important things.

They are against the current bailout situation with the auto makers. They blame the government for any environmental problems we're having. They call for the government to take less money from people so there is an increase in family budget. They wish to cut all foreign aid. They want to legalize illegal immigrants. Set up a new health care system, MSA, and take out the FDA. Allow guns and gay marriage. The issues are a mix of the republican and democratic party. Having a group who falls in between the norm is nice to have.

That comfort zone may be what some people are looking for. People may just want the difference, or change to experience it. The mixed values may attract people so they don't have to choose between the two heated parties.

The party is growing and the future looks good because many people are seeing a lot of problems with how the government has been run and aren't happy with what has been the result of a bad government. People are liking the thought of lower taxes and more freedoms. Many people who are against the bailout see the party as a strong party against giving out money and agree with them because that is one of their key values. The party is looking like they could be the third party of the American political system.

The party is looking bright in this time of need for a change in government. The libertarians might actually have a chance of becoming the only third party of America.
