Poetry: Religious

by Barbara Writes

High above the clouds

High above the clouds
There is a city
Brimming with light
Not of this world

High above the clouds
There is a banquet of
A hundred and forty-four thousand
Drinking the wine of the covenant

High above the clouds
Jesus became the last Adam
The father of mankind
Giving a dying people life again

High above the clouds
All the faithful ones
Names are being written
In the book of life

Dispatched from his heavenly home
Jesus gave his perfect life
To improve our flawed existence
Under sin and death

In a paradise earth there will be
Perfect people with healthy bodies and, satisfying work
Never again will love ones die
Your next door neighbor will be your friend

A heavenly government from above
Always righteous showing mercy
No one will be oppressing others
No one corrupting the earth with greedy gains

Messianic king, prince of peace, son of righteousness
Coming with his co-rulers of imperfect humans
With a God-given desire to live in the heavens
Will inherit the inhabited earth

Millions hoping to live on the earth
Will be joyous among the animals
Thousands of spirit-anointed humans
Will grant peace and security to all mankind
