Reality TV has covered our TV screens for some time now. I must admit I am a fan. There are challenges, dating shows, reality( where it is about one more individuals lives) and the keep coming up with more. I personality enjoy the dating shows on MTV and VH1, they are not like the Bachelor. The people on these shows such as Rock of Love and Flavor of Love they seem a little backwards with their public affection a crazy attitudes. They yell and fight with each other making intense scenes. I watch it because it makes me laugh and I realize I am not that bad, ha ha. I do wonder where the producers find these people to come on the shows. Its even funnier that they pick these people for famous people such as Bret Michaels and Rapper Ray J. I realize that most of these people are only going on the show for their 15 minutes of fame. Most of the dating shows love matching never last. I just wonder what the people are thinking when coming on the show? Do they think that are going to fall in love?
Another big question, is it real? I used to go mad thinking it could all be staged, but I've got over that now because I am pretty sure most of it has to be staged. For example the show The Hills, rumor has it that the reason why the star of the show Lauren Conrad is leaving the show because the producer kept making her be with Heidi, a girl that she is no longer friends with. I also think watching the shows, there are times when it just can't be real. People wonder if Heidi and Spencer's wedding was real or a publicity stunt. It does look at times where the producers add something, or make people look like something their not. For example if one girl starts yelling, she will be perceived as the bitch.
Reality TV has also ruined lives in Hollywood. Many famous families have been in the reality world. It first stared with the cute couple Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey with their show Newlyweds. The world fell in love with the down to earth couple. The show lasted for about 3 years when the couple announced they were getting divorced. Hogen Knows Best is another show with a famous family that did not make it through reality. The Hogens were married for 25 years. The family did admit with having the show there was no privacy with one another. There is currently a family falling apart, Jon and Kate from the TLC show Jon and Kate plus Eight. The two have not been faithful; however the show is something the two can not agree on. Kate wants to continue with the show and Jon is ready to move on. I personally do not understand exactly why the famous families did not make it because I feel they are always in the public eye, and used to not having privacy. But people like Jon and Kate I think allowed the money and fame to get in the way of what is important, family. I think it would be hard to have marriage with anyone having the world involved too.
There are families who are still holding strong. Right now a favorite of mine, is Keeping up with the Kardashians, but a family I do not think anything could break them up is The Osbornes. They were on MTV, who really had tons of fans of their show. Their crazy lifestyle and blunt personalities make them just right for each other. I do not think anything could break them up.
I like them and enjoy the entertainment, however I do not think I could go on a reality TV show. You would not have any privacy, I think that would be really hard. I think it's one thing to put themselves on a show, but I do not think it's right to sign up their whole for family one. Especially children, it can not be right for them to grow up with cameras in their business the beginning years of their life.
