Wrinkle Reduction Treatments

Who doesn't want to look young and keep the youthful appearance in tact? Luckily, there are multiple wrinkle correction techniques available. With the pros and cons of each method laid out clearly, you can make an informed choice.

1) Face Peels / Chemical Peels - performed by dermatologists, the technique involves application of an acid solution to the face which irritates the skin to a bright red. When the crust formation formed on the skin from the acid's reaction peels off you get fresh, wrinkle free skin. The process also gets rid of pigment inconsistencies and freckles.

As for the drawbacks, expect pain. And after the abuse, the skin needs time to recover. The process risks permanent scarring and changes to skin pigmentation.

2) Microdermabrasion - dermatologists perform this for wrinkle reduction and cosmetic surgeons find it useful in softening up the appearance of scars. Instead of acid, this procedure involves literal 'sanding down' of the face with a sanding instrument. The result can be a fresh and young looking skin but as expected, pain and a reddened skin are the byproducts. Again, there is a chance of permanent scarring or changes to skin pigmentation here as well.

3) Laser Resurfacing - oft used on scars and for the removal of skin wrinkles, this is an effective way of getting a more youthful look. But you are risking the same as the procedures we have already talked about; you can come off with burns, scars or change of pigment, plus the risk of infections.

Youth comes at a cost and while the prices may vary, the statement is true for all these procedures and you can safely expect the cost to be high.

4) Anti Aging Skin Creams - tricky as it may be to find the right cream, this is the highly recommended mode of wrinkle reduction. Buyers beware though; most of the products out there are more hype than they are worth. You have to really research before picking a cream to trust with your skin. Studies shows collagen and elastin as two proteins that make the skin supple and wrinkle free so, ideally, any anti aging skin cream should have ingredients that enhance the production of these proteins.

These creams perform no magical transformations though. The process is slow and steady so it might take weeks, or even months, for the results to become apparent. The key is in finding the right product and then keeping up the use.

Ironically, every drawback of the methods discussed above is a plus point for this method of wrinkle reduction. There are no scares with scars or pain, or even the embarrassment of being seen after you are peeled red like a plum. To top everything off, anti aging creams are considerably cheaper and they actually clear your skin by nourishing it.

At the end of the day we all make our choices based on what suits us best. Skin care creams may not be the best choice for everyone but the fact remains; you can only have so many face peels, sooner or later the pain becomes too much to go back to and even people opting for such procedures can turn to skin creams to sustain the freshness of a youthful looking skin.
