Being highly motivated as a writer will lead to greater writing success. It can be difficult to stay motivated when writing a book, or having to complete a long writing project. You may also have difficulty staying motivated if you are being paid to write a large number of articles, or aim to build up a substantial list of articles to earn income online.
There are ways to stay motivated when writing. Try to increase your confidence, decide what you want to achieve and think of the benefits to be gained. With enthusiasm and a positive attitude, you will enjoy your work as a writer.
[1] Have a positive attitude to writing
Try some positive thinking techniques and use affirmations to build up your confidence. Focus on possibilities and think about what you can achieve. Understand that setbacks, difficulties and disappointments can be overcome.
Never allow self doubt or fear of rejection to prevent you from writing. Accept that as a writer you will have to face rejection, and you will be required to do some rewriting. Welcome these occasions as opportunities to learn more about what is required by publishers and clients. Be open to constructive criticism, use it to improve your writing.
With positive attitude you firmly believe in what you can accomplish. That way you will attain all your goals and achieve success as a writer.
[2] Decide what you can achieve by being a more productive writer.
You may want to be discovered and become famous as a writer, or your goal may be to earn a full-time income from writing.
You could build up a quality portfolio of writing to gain more work. You could post more on your blog to get traffic, or produce effective web content to increase page rank of a site. You may want to promote your own ebooks, or use marketing articles to generate affiliate income.
When you decide what exactly you want to achieve with your writing, you will become a more productive writer.
[3] Think about the benefits you will gain from your writing.
Being paid to write is not the only motivation for writing. There are plenty of other benefits to be enjoyed from completing what you write.
Even if you are ghostwriting for commercial purposes, and your name does not appear in print or online, you will gain satisfaction from seeing your work published.
You will feel good knowing you have contributed an effective piece that has added value to your portfolio of successful writing. That is why you need to complete what you are writing.
[4] Feel enthusiasm for writing to communicate ideas and knowledge.
Be proud of your ability to communicate in writing and take pleasure in producing something people will want to read. Whether you are writing a story or providing information, you have ideas and knowledge to share. That is why you are enthusiastic about writing.
[5] Consider your reasons for wanting to write.
Most writers feel a compulsion to write, and love the creative process of writing. Even if you are writing a factual account, or producing content for a website, appreciate the opportunity to write and feel good about what you write.
Writing should be a pleasure, not a chore. Stay motivated by remembering why you want to write. Be enthusiastic about your writing and remind yourself what you gain from being a productive writer. Be positive and enjoy your writing success.
