Songs: Peace

by Joseph Coleman

Created on: June 06, 2009

We are all of the earth, a peaceful place.

We have no other home, other than a Universe of space.

Galaxies, the quantum light waves of energy colliding in an,

inevitably, abrupt physical, approach.

But this is not war with Andromeda; it is a coming together, a gathering.

Much like the Mother, who births the child, the better being.

We could make love to Andromeda,

and gather our storm together, making a new, and better star.

Comes the morning light, a new, and better, day.

And, in the morning, it's the same Sun that shines!

What is this that makes us war each other?

What's the difference between us and them?

There is none, except language, distance, and geography.

Aren't we all blessed in the same shoes?

They are born, they die, they too mourn, then they cry.

At evening call, they sleep and dream of things the same as we.

And what of the Moon?

Aye, she is the same.

The night always did have its own unique sound.

Sometimes I think it sounds like Mothers, praying for their sons.

So, what makes this war?

The human fool becomes King; the people, his carpet to stand upon!

The 'people' became his almighty weapon of justice, or so it was claimed.

The voice becomes hollow.

It is not our voice we hear, not the people's,

not the great Saints who took the spear for us!

The only new day breaks, with the Moon going down.

But it lives on the other side,

and it's the same Moon that shined on us;

our Moon has now become their Moon.

It shines on their lovers now,

giving reason to the kiss on the lips.

We didn't give it away; it wasn't ours to give;

it's their's now because of where they are!

Yes, the same light that fell once upon us, is another's,

and this binds them to us.

What is a moment peace?

The child, cradled in the Mother's arms?

What is the sound of war?

Sometimes I think it sounds like the Mothers, crying for their sons.

A question for all of mankind:

What do we do when the baby cries?
