BREAK
.....Take your mind off the stress.
Give it a rest.
Live a little different.
But not the best.
There's a reason to my words.
Make the meaning heard.
Little did you know, I knew so much.
So sit back and let me lecture you.
Before, when I used to try to speak to you,
In one ear and out the other they flew.
But now you have no choice but to plunge to your knees.
Your eyes up to me and begging please.
I am no god, but I am free.
But you're not, so listen to me.
Stand up, brush it off, and look at me.
There's a fear in your eyes.
A quiver when you talk.
And a very strange swagg whenever you walk.
There's a secret you keep, but I know the truth.
Not too much older than me so there's no use.
Because behind these eyes somethings' always happening.
Never mistake me for happy if I'm smiling.
I know what you go through and I have been through it myself.
But look at me now, I'm better than then.
Yeah, I've cursed and lied and did all that sin.
I'm not fully turned around but I'm am in a 180.
Dug a hole and no one could save me.
You're digging your hole and the shovel has broken.
Don't get mad. I saved you. I broke it.
And I knew how to break it.
Knew how you would take you it.
But that's okay, I like to fight for the right.
No matter how hard you make it.
So now look me in the eyes.
See your own reflection.
We can still be the same person, no matter our complexion.
I have taught you a thing or two.
So take 'em and put 'em to use.
My mind and mouth work together as one.
Now it's your turn to join your own soul.
Don't ever let anyone break you down.
I might have to kill you if you do.
I didn't have to do this bit.
But I did so the least you could do
Is put the dirt back in that hole.
We both know and knew.
What we both went through.
How we both got passed.
And we both now know what else to do.
Break those old bonds with rigid past we had.
Together we made changed
And thats our aftermath.....

Poetry: The argument
by Carol Gioia
It was a silly argument,
we let it go too far,
I never should have uttered,
"Let me out of this damn car!"

As I leapt from the chair. "Calm Down?"
I screamed, voice piercing the air.

They were covered in thick dust,
those words we flung at each other last night.
They mocked my foolish trust
