Holy Bible excerpt: I have come that you may have life, and have it more
abundantly...
The bible is a very mysterious book. Some people believe what it says, some
believe only part of what it says, and the other doesn't believe it at all. In
any case, this excerpt is quite important. Indeed I think it is extremely
important in today's times. This excerpt would be considered one from God
talking to people. Haven't we heard people who want to live life? They say we
only live once, so do everything you can. This includes people who bungee jump, mountain climb to Mt. Everest, fly off of cliffs, you know. Are these people really living life? I don't think so. Indeed I think they are trying to get rid
of their life. Who would trust another person, just like you, who make mistakes to be in charge of whether you live or die? I wouldn't. Most people might say
anything could happen, what if they make a mistake. That's what I would say.
Anyway, now that we have seen what some people believe is living (having) life, what does this passage say to the rest of us. I would like to first tell you a story about how I came to believe in this passage, and how it has changed my life for the better. One Sunday, during church, my mother mysteriously went to a room in the church and told me at about 13 years old to sit down and wait. She came back, looking as though she had been crying, and told me she had gotten saved. I was OK with it, and we went home. In this particular church, the pastor used to scare me to death. He would say things like Do you want to die without the Lord, do you want to have everlasting torment in Hell. Of course I didn't want any of those things to happen. As a 13-year-old, I prayed and prayed everyday to God that those things wouldn't happen to me. I'd awake in the middle of the night having had a dream about going to Hell, and pray and pray till I fell asleep again. I realized I might have to do something else to get saved like my mother and the preacher told me.
At church at the end of service, the pastor would ask if anyone wanted to be
saved, to come down the church aisle and pray with a prayer partner in the front. This event scared me silly. I felt like jumping up and going down there at that minute, but I was too scared that people would clap and I would be embarrassed for all time. This of course gave me another idea, and I went to get saved during bible study on Wednesday. They baptized me and we went into a room with other children and continually
