Boredom happens, it's the point when your brain travels through a dead zone of undeveloped activity. The walls close in and a feeling of claustrophobia condenses the main frame of your thoughts and stalls the sense of idealistic thinking which leaves you trapped in weariness due to a lack of mental stimulation and loss of focus.
Why does this occur? Is there a way to avoid it? There can be many scenarios to explain the onset of boredom. Each individual has to take a look at themselves and figure out what steps can be taken to alleviate or if possible avoid this debilitating frame of time.
Boredom is also a problem enhancer, it induces a lower level of self control. If you don't feel in control there isn't a direction to follow, a course to take, a need for motivation or a task to begin and complete. Boredom presents an empty slate, a cause without a function.
You realize an action should be implemented, but the purpose to set it in motion has yet to develop, this brings on a feeling of inadequacy. Life is standing still within your mind, you're drawing a blank slate while slowly drifting away from productivity.
Boredom should be considered a part of the norm, so to speak. It attaches itself to you when at work, school, waiting in the doctor's office, at the airport waiting to board or in flight, a traffic jam, long lines, traveling on the road, etc. Anywhere you're detained or confined for a lengthy amount of hours drains the mind of a happy and hopeful experience.
I find that when I say, "I'm getting bored," it awakens my conscientiousness and I become aware of the stagnant void I've allowed into existence. Boredom tends to easily slip into place, capture meaningful thoughts and holds them within an empty daze. I noticed that boredom has a relationship with sleep, it tires my mind and encourages me to lay my life to rest.
Awareness of the stages of boredom can prove helpful, it can be combated in the beginning process. Read a book, exercise, take a walk, engage in your favorite hobby, think of trip you'd love to take, call a friend. Give yourself the necessary jolt that's needed to chase boredom away, it doesn't take much prove to yourself it can be done.
I was given the Wii sport as a requested Christmas present, a well appreciated gift from my children. Later for Mother's Day I received the Wii Fit. The combined gifts have saved me from boredom over and over again. I love to play the tennis game, I make a grudge match against the little Wii-bles, that's my pet name for them. It really helps when I'm bored and have lots of fun.
In actually the threat of boredom is inactivity or to much time on your hands. Activity is the key so do something, tackle a project you've put on hold, play a game, watch a comedy show...laughter can cure just about anything. Bottom line is you either take control of boredom or it will take control or you, so just do it....kick boredom to the curb.
