flights of stairs...I could be a mere memory.
* Writing down ALL the things I'm thankful for...naming them one-by-one. If I had a thousand tongues, I would not be able to verbalize them all. So, I write them down. That, ALONE, eliminates the stress at hand.
* Thinking on the Creator, and Sustainer of life itself, humbles me. Life is a gift from God. He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life. I also think of all that we have no control over, and how He wants us to turn them over to Him, and LEAVE them. He wants our burdens. He does not want our hearts troubled. That's a relief, and is good news.
Long ago, I learned it was NOT the alarm clock that awakened me every morning. It was the grace of God giving me yet another opportunity to draw closer to Him. And, if it had not been for the Lord by my side, nudging me out of bed...I don't know where I'd be.
He allows us to rise every morning, clothed in our right minds. He enables blood to flow warm in our veins. We have the articulation of our speech, and the activity of our limbs. That's a gracious God.
* Loving unconditionally, and learning to forgive others as well as ourselves, frees the mind and heart of ill feelings.
The thoughts I once entertained when things didn't go well, or when I was confronted by folk who were confrontational, were not pleasant thoughts, my friend. They left me discontented, and resentful. I found that forgiving myself, and choosing to forgive others and see the good in them consoles the spirit.
* Reading the Bible...particularly the Psalms, which is a book of praises, is always comforting. They are poetic writings of praise to our heavenly Father for the manifold blessings He has bestowed upon us.
Eliminating stress is not difficult. It requires learning not to complain, taking 'time-outs' for yourself on a regular basis, and figuring out what is TRULY important...being thankful things are as good as they are. I know, for many, they could be much worse.
