Too often, we create unnecessary stress for ourselves; the routine of daily living, wearing many hats, and placing many burdensome thoughts on the mind. Women are particularly good for doing this; housewives who have the 24/7 job of making certain that the home is intact in every way; mothers who leave their babies in the care of virtual strangers to take on positions of authority at the workplace, and returning home to do double-time.
Let's not forget men who work hard to provide for their families. They have their frustrations...taking on unnecessary levels of stress as well. Oftentimes, their manhood is challenged...having to switch roles THEMSELVES once they leave home for work; having to bridle their tongue, or face retribution of some sort if they don't.
These days, it is not an easy task to incorporate PEACE into our schedules; with the roller-coaster economy we live in, and everything ELSE we tend to focus on being a factor; like making ends meet, facing growing crime in our communities, and securing a safe environment for our families...life can be stressful.
I recall the feeling I once had of being stressed; my head felt like a vice was attached to it, tightening at every thought. I've learned to change my way of thinking. Rather than to detest a task I faced, or unfavorable people in my midst...I've learned to change the way I thought about it and them...DO the task at hand, and get out of folks' way.
However, I have good news that may help those who think finding peace is an impossibility.
First of all, let's consider the fact that as time goes on, our tolerance level diminishes with age when we fail to incorporate a peaceful refuge for ourselves. Making lifestyle adjustments may not be so easy for some; that's just the 'nature of the beast' many have created for themselves. But, for others...it's as close as the mind's eye. We must learn to relax and appreciate life more.
There are a number of ways one can learn to relax the mind to eliminate stress. I find writing and reading to be tremendous stress-busters. I usually sit in my most comfortable chair, or lie in bed, and think of the goodness of the Lord, and all He has done for me...because, every good and perfect gift is from Him.
I begin this process with:
* Prayer, and being thankful that matters are as good as they are: this is my daily devotion. When I think of the multiple times I could have lost my life in car accidents, having been robbed at gunpoint, and falling down
