Poetry: Hate

FLATMATE

An empty womb and aching void

A tumultuous leaving;

Her face awash with maybe's tears

Hypocrite in grieving.

-

Corkscrew curls, skeletal frame

Awkward face of makeup;

Disposition: delicate -

"Not worth the space I take up."

-

Paleing skin and wasting bones

Dark, this silhouette;

Trips on everyone she meets

Hasn't fallen - yet.

-

Remnants and relationships,

Cuddly toys and dresses;

Cigarettes, a taxi service,

Imitation shyness.

-

Company-surrounded 'home'

With some poor misused suitor

Scone for lunch, coffee breakfast

(Pounds fall off, which suits her).

-

Chewed-up nails, nervous habit

Mess-strewn floors for 'mother':

Recruits from ready walked-o'er souls

That share grief with each other.

-

Timeless figure, keeps her friends,

Not one of them is set free

She stores them up and keeps them sweet;

(Except, that is, for me).
