Denial
A trusted friend
thought it would be nice
to share her cliche
and bring to light
her perception of :
denial is the first step.
The meaning became clear
as I pulled the minature rose bush
from its firm embrace of a soil
that died with the love of the giver
and as I tugged that souless bush
it pricked me a few more times
just to let me know
even the best in us
can make poor choices.

GARNET HAZE:
Garnet haze over my world
Rose-colored glasses tinted my view
As colors of life around me swirled
I couldn't
She walks in sunshine all her days
Past greenery and floral sprays
As shadows flee.
Even summer showers defer
And let no raindrops
We would know within eight minutes
if the sun died.

A mother
May go into
Denial
