Poetry: Life's casualties

by Erin Lewis

Created on: June 05, 2009

Thoughts of the flesh absorbing thoughts of the soul.

Shallow depths engorge desired outcomes.

Take me back to the place where I was allowed to be full.

Take me back to the place of starving healthy existence,

poisoned mind,

emaciated body,

tortuously content in my devastating fate.

I am dying in an uncomfortably safe place of chubby babies,

smiling faces,

beauty everywhere,

round bodies,

blissfully ignorant minds.

I'm just another one now.

Nothing separates me from them anymore.
