In my school, people have been worrying about this issue...Not enough to buy a dress for. Graduation is an important day in which you stand out in front of, the school, your family and friends, as an alumni, a scholar and a student. When I started thinking about this, I started to panic as well. But, I thought about making my own dress. Why not? It would be fun. It would be like my last project of the year: impressing my boyfriend and my parents. For me, that was a tough thing to do, with super picky parents, I knew I was in a pickle.
So, I thought about the type of dress I would like, and for me something simple would do. I knew I would have to make a dress that I would not fall down and embarrass myself. Maybe a little bit more above the knees. I first drew the type of dress I wanted. I made several attempts. I drew specific parts as the upper body and the lower part. It would be recommended to use a sewing machine, and having at least a little bit of experience from it. When your thinking about designing a dress, remember the type of occasion it is going to be: formal, in the morning or in the evening. Depending on the time of day your graduation is, it is also important to look appropriate for the occasion. And specially not showing butt cracks or crevices. As I said before, keep it simple.
You must also remember to have a zipper or some form in order to fit in it. You also need to check the size with your body shape and make sure it goes well. Have a friend measure your bust, chest and stomach to make sure it the dress is proportioned. There is a lot that can be done to make your graduation dress look good. Look for cloth that has a certain floral pattern or has a nice color. You can make matching colors, or a pretty sleeve or maybe wavy style of dress that will impress your colleagues. Remember this day is also about you... and you are the one in charge of this feat. Its not hard, but it does require patience. You must practice and perfect your dress. It can use many cloths or as little as one or two. It all comes exactly how you would want it. It takes little to no skill in order to make your dress. So, when you are out there ready to look your best, sometimes it doesn't need to cost much. Specially in this time period. Make it pretty with less cost, and best of all: make it tailored to your taste! Good luck! A good dress shouldn't have to cost so much!
